Brittany Newman
Brittany Newman (b. 2003) is a third-generation artist whose creative lineage includes her mother, renowned Australian impasto painter Velia Newman, and her grandmother, romantic impressionist Anita Newman. Her grandfather, a former gallery owner and art dealer, also played a formative role in her artistic development.
Raised amid the vibrant atmosphere of Bayview Gallery on Sydney’s Northern Beaches, Brittany was immersed in the art world from an early age. This environment, rich in creative influence, laid the foundation for her style—what she describes as coastal contemporary—a fusion of traditional techniques and modern expression, shaped profoundly by Australia’s coastal landscapes.
Brittany is best known for her Tree of Fortune series, a seasonal collection that captures the essence of summer, autumn, winter, and spring through richly textured compositions and emotive color palettes. Each piece reflects a symbolic connection to the cycles of nature and personal growth, with occasional explorations into themes beyond the seasons.
Brittany made her public debut in 2012 in Canberra’s Three Generations exhibition, where her work was met with early acclaim. Now based on the Central Coast of New South Wales, she works from a shared studio in Ettalong Beach, continuing to evolve her practice while contributing to the family’s artistic legacy.
Brittany Newman originals are highly sought after by art lovers and collectors around the world.
